The fifth edition of the Festival of the Middle Ages will take place in Gubbio from September 25 to 29.

A great cultural event, one of a kind, with five days of free admission meetings in the company of historians, writers, scientists, philosophers and journalists to talk about ten centuries of history, from the fall of the Western Roman Empire to the discovery of America.

Many initiatives are scheduled for Middle Ages enthusiasts such as meetings with scholars and writers, presentation of studies and talks about the places and characters of medieval Gubbio, on the traditions and flavors of the past, on inventions, chronicles and myths of the time.

The theme of the fifth edition is "Women, the other face of History". It means to make a journey around the condition of women at the root of prejudices and stereotypes. The voice of women in everyday life and in the palaces of power: saints and queens, witches and madonnas, artists and intellectuals, muses and medics. Whispers and shouts about unknown, removed or forgotten events. A long story between art and literature, politics and philosophy.

The program is completed with:

The Medieval Book Fair - Everything you need to read about the Middle Age at your disposal included essays, biographies, novels and fantasy. More than 40 generalist and specialized publishers participate in the fair every year.

Educational workshops, exhibitions and shows - Educational activities, exhibitions, readings and plays, concerts, lecture-shows: each year the Festival of the Middle Ages enriches the program with events and theme nights.

Entertainment - Home to ancient guilds of medieval trades and custodian of original cultural traditions, the city of Gubbio takes part in the event with processions, exhibitions and historical demonstrations.

A journey through history, legends and magic in one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy.
