The Perdono di Assisi (Feast of Pardon) is one of the most important and popular religious events in Umbria.

In 1216 San Francesco asked for and obtained indulgence from Pope Honorius III and, since then every year on the 1st and 2^nd August, thousands of people have crossed the threshold of the Porziuncola to receive grace.

This year the celebrations held in the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli will be particularly heartfelt, in view of the Jubilee of the Pardon which falls in the eighth centenary (1216-2016) of Saint Francis's request at the Porziuncola, and at the same time as the Extraordinary Jubilee   announced by Pope Francis for the Holy Year of Mercy, from the 8th December 2015 to the 20th November 2016.
