Le Infiorate di Spello
The Infiorate of Spello
An engaging tradition will delight visitors to Spello again this year: the Infiorate (flower "paintings") will once again transform the village streets during the days of Corpus Christi.

On 22nd and 23rd June, the characteristic medieval streets of the village will be covered with flower "paintings", enormous works of sacred art made using flower petals that cover a path of about 1.

5 km.

The Infiorate are the result of complex work that requires months of preparation. And even though the flower paintings remain on streets  only for as long as the procession lasts, they offer the satisfaction of having created extraordinary works and the memory of a unique night.

Throughout the year, the village's residents collect flowers and herbs from Mount Subasio and the Apennines, intensifying their search during the spring. The process continues with the selection of carefully preserved petals and chopping up of the herbs. On the eve of Corpus Christi, drawings are made on the streets and so, during the night, millions of petals are used to fill in the drawings with all the colours of nature, creating charming masterpieces.

In the morning, the streets are seen covered with a single polychrome carpet: a show that will astonish you with its colors and scents.
