Gubbio at the Giotto epoch

The Consul’s Palace, the Diocesan Museum and the Ducal Palace will be the three exhibition venues of the exhibition “Gubbio at the Giotto epoch – Art treasures in the land of Oderisi”, on schedule from 7th July to 4th November 2018.

This exhibition, one of the biggest ever made, traces the historical and artistic events among the late 1200 and the second half of 1300, period when the City of Stone was particularly active in the artistic field (and not only).

Paintings on wood, sculptures, miniatures and documents dating back to the Giotto epoch will be the focus of the exhibition, for a total of about 80 artworks coming from the significant artistic heritage of Gubbio and of other regions.

The exhibition aims at providing, through a diachronic itinerary from the Giotto epoch to the second half of 14th century, with an interdisciplinary methodological approach and an accurate philological research, new interpretations on Guido di Oderisi, the Expressionist Master of St. Claire, Palmerino di Guido, Guiduccio Palmerucci.
